Senior Structural Drafter

Most drafter roles ask you to slot into an existing system. Follow the templates, check the boxes, pass it up the chain. This one is different.

This is a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with offices across the east coast. The structural team is growing, and this is the first drafter they're bringing on. That means you won't be inheriting someone else's habits. You'll be the one who sets them.

The business has serious projects on the board and a client base that keeps coming back. The directors are hands-on and technically strong. You'll work directly with engineers rather than being filtered through layers of management, and you'll have a real say in how the drafting function is built.

The work spans commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure; reinforced concrete, structural steel, retaining structures, and civil infrastructure. You'll lead documentation from concept through to IFC, coordinate across disciplines, and review and mentor junior team members as the team grows around you. Senior engineers will lean on you to call out constructability issues early and keep documentation tight.

You'll need advanced AutoCAD and solid Revit, at least six years of consulting experience, and the ability to run an IFC package independently.

If you've only ever been the second or third drafter on a project, you'll need to be honest with yourself about whether you're ready to be the first.

One day WFH, Friday lunches, quarterly events, and a genuine focus on technical development. Straightforward people doing interesting work.
